# Troubleshooting

Here are common issues and how to resolve them:

***

### ❌ NPCs are not spawning

✔ Ensure the folder name is exactly:\
`vortex_advanced_npc`\
✔ Check for typos in config.lua\
✔ Make sure NPC model names are valid\
✔ Verify coordinates are not underground or invalid

***

### ❌ NPCs do not attack players

✔ Check whitelist — player may be whitelisted\
✔ Ensure zone whitelist is not blocking the reaction\
✔ Disable conflicting SafeZone/anti-combat resources\
✔ Verify detection distances are not set too low

***

### ❌ Patrol NPCs are not moving

✔ Ensure at least 2 patrol points\
✔ Coordinates must be reachable\
✔ No obstructions blocking navigation

***

### ❌ NPCs reset too quickly

✔ Update `Config.Detection.CombatResetTime`\
✔ Increase `AlertTimeout` for longer engagement

***

### ❌ High server load?

This system runs at **0.00–0.02ms** on average.\
If you see higher usage:

✔ Check for conflicting NPC mods\
✔ Avoid excessive NPC counts\
✔ Turn off debug mode

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://vortexbey.gitbook.io/untitled/assets-and-guides/advanced-npc-ai-system/troubleshooting.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
